We've recorded it, we've mixed it, we've mastered it, now we're just in the final stages with artwork and very soon we'll be ready to release it to you all for your listening pleasure (hopefully it's a pleasure!). I am currently waiting on confirmation for a launch date, but it's looking early November, but don't worry, you'll be the first to know! Now here's the interesting part! I have confirmed that I will be performing at the 2nd Himalayan Blues Festival in Kathmandu, Nepal from the 15th to the 19th of October. Please go check out HimalayanBlues.com to find out more about the festival and the artists performing there including fellow Aussies, Pugsley Buzzard and my good friend from struggle town, Owen Campbell! Upon my return to Australia and after having conquered Everest (at least in my hallucinations caused by the high altitude) I will fly straight to Perth for the National Youth in Blues Showcase, then shortly after that I will head back down to Tassy for my annual Tasmaniac Tour. One of the shows I am playing in Hobart is indeed part of the Gay Pride festival that will be held the weekend of the 14th-16th of November. If that isn't enough for you, I can tell you that at this event, I will be opening for a fabulous Japanese Rockabilly band by the name of Ikochi! Now you don't get that kind of excitement working in the public service! Hope to see you at the FREE Zilberfish gig at the National Press Club on the 18th! (See the Zilberfish page for details) Bye for now! Jonno July 19th 2008 Hello again, It has been a busy last few weeks for me with a short tour through Victoria and S.A including my favourite little run of venues including The Loft in Warrnambool and the Wheaty in Adelaide and even a new venue, Kokopelli's Cafe in Portland, Victoria. Unfortunately being winter, the venues were all a bit quiet but thats ok, we'll make up for it in the warmer months I'm sure! I will be spending all of this week in the studio finally recording my NEW solo album. Lloyd Spiegel is on board to produce and we'll be laying it all down at the brand new Artsound Studio. I have to say I'm very excited to be recording there, the new studio is a great little space and we hope to get some very good use out of it! Don't forget I've got the Zilberfish Little Big-Band back together for a short time and we only have one show left. After a stellar gig at the Folkus Room last month, the fellas and I are all ready to get the Press Club jumpin' and jivin' away once again. That's this Thursday (July 24th) at the National Press Club in Barton. $10 at the door or absolutely free if you're a National Press Club member! Don't forgot to keep checking back here for regular updates. I'm still slowly doing this site up and I should have it all up to date pretty soon. That's the way it is this Saturday July 19th. I hope to see you again. June 13th 2008... (oooo, Friday the 13th again!) Hi everyone, Yes ladies and gentlemen, it has been 11 whole months since I've written on here. Truth be told, I didn't even take any notice of my website for at least 5 of those months because myspace seemed to take over. BUT now I'm back here and I'm in it for the long haul so I'm going to give a quick run down of the last 11 months for you all and then some quick updates. Firstly, I have changed my mailing list system so it will actually be much easier for me to keep track of it and to be able to send out regular emails so please sign up for it and tell your friends because you will actually get somthing from it now! The tour to Adelaide that I mentioned in the last post was a great success and I have been back 3 times since. Adelaide is a fantastic place not only to perform, but also to visit. One of the times I went back was for the first Adelaide International Guitar Festival which was an amazing week and I'll be back there in a few weeks. Tasmaniac '07 was even better than '06 and I'm already planning '08. Everyone who knows me knows about the Young Guns of Blues project that I was involved in. That is now finished and was also a big success. The album was really popular and we played some fantastic shows together (Including shows at the Australian Blues Music Festival and Blues on Broadbeach festival) and got plenty of publicity. Other exciting news is that thanks to and ArtsACT grant I will be doing a brand new solo album in the next few months. I'm very excited to have Lloyd Spiegel on board to produce it. It will be another mix of originals and some interesting covers with plenty of guitar and percussion so you can shake your groove thang. Finally, due to popular demand, I have reformed the Jonno & The Zilberfish Little Big Band for two nights only in late June and late July. Check the gig guide for details! So that's a very brief wrap up of what's been happening and what is to come. I promise these updates will happen more often and so will the email newsletters. Till next time, you stay classy San Diego and thanks for dropping by! July 13th 2007... (Friday the 13th... oooooh!) Hi there, Once again, it has been a while since I've updated this place, I apologise to my small number of fans who like to keep checking back at my website to tell me that I haven't done anything with it for ages, this one is for you! First change is on the photos page. A couple of weeks ago I went out with photographer and all round nice guy, Asher Floyd to have some new portrait photographs done. They look mighty nice and you can see a few of them sprinkled throughout the website and on the updated photos page. I have added more shows to the gig guide, including the "Southern Migration" tour in October with my crazy folk band, (The one I mentioned in my previous post), Pete & The Pelicans (www.myspace.com/peteandthepelicans). There are plenty more dates to come including more pelicans dates, another Tasmaniac tour in November and W.A in Nov/Dec! For all of the "in" kids out there, I am also on myspace. I have actually been there for a while but never really mentioned it on here for some reason. My myspace address is www.myspace.com/JonnoZilber, please go check it out and send me an add request (if you're into that sort of thing). In a couple of weeks, with the help of Black Market Music (www.blackmarketmusic.com.au), I'm heading off on tour to Adelaide and Melbourne and all places in between, including shows at the Adelaide Festival Centre and the Rainbow Hotel in Melbourne. There will be plenty of other shows in and around those of course, so if you're in S.A or Vic, please check out my gig guide and find out when I'm coming your way. Till then, I'll see you 'round! April 16th 2007 Hiya Once again, it has been a while so here's a run down of what's going on... Goulburn '07 was great! The twice annual Lloyd Spiegel & Jonno Zilber Press Club gig was rad and went an hour and half longer than usual with a bit of a mellow jazz and folk jam at the end of the night. Very nice. I'm now officially 18. I had my 18th party on the 29th of March where I debuted the new look Jonno & The Zilberfish, now an 8-piece swing band. I will get on to updating the Zilberfish page on my website with photos and maybe a recording or two of the band from my 18th. After playing the National Folk Festival with my crazy folk band, Pete & The Pelicans (www.myspace.com/peteandthepelicans) I set off for 6 shows in 6 days down South-East New South Wales which was a hoot, particularly because I got to drop in on an ol' retired Blues muso friend of mine for an instant burst of inspiration that I can always count on him for. Thanks, you know who you are! Next thing up is Broadbeach in May. Keep checking the gig guide for dates. Y'all come back now, ya hear? January 28th 2007 I'm back! First of all, happy new year to you all and I hope 2007 is an absolute ripper of a year! I know it's been ages since I've posted on here but the last 4 months of '06 were pretty crazy. I got my knee fixed finally and then went to the U.S with my folks for a few weeks to visit my brother in Dallas and drive around the south. We managed to check out San Fran for 4 days on the way home as well, was a great little trip! A couple weeks after my return from the U.S of A, I headed down south for my Tasmaniac Tour '06 and I'm looking forward to Tasmaniac '07 already! I had lots of fun shows down there and picked one up in St. Helens along the way, which probably ranked as the best of the tour, good times! As for this year, it's off to a bit of a slow start thanks to the bushfires and everything making the bookings a little difficult but I've at least got the Goulburn Blues Festival again (9th-11th of Feb). Keep checking my gigs page for upcoming shows, there will be heaps there within the next month or two. Also, after the Goulburn Festival, we've got the traditional, twice-annual Lloyd Spiegel & Jonno Zilber Press Club gig on the 15th of Feb, so be sure to check that one out if you can as it may be the last one for a long time! I'm currently updating the website. I have changed the pics on the photos page and even included some of my own pics in there (photography is one of my many little hobbies on the side). I am also going to put a page up with all my guitars and other gear so you can know all about what stuff I use, Hazah! Thanks for dropping by now! Jonno | |
